Heat Resistant Glass
Specialist Glass for interior & exterior

Our Vision
Our Bespoke
heat resistant glass.
There are two different variations of Heat-Resistant Glass that are most frequently used: tempered glass and ceramic glass. These are incredibly useful in apparatus near extreme heat such as fireplaces, stoves and splashbacks as they can withstand high temperatures without warping or damaging the glass. At YourGlass Fittings we can cut to any size, made to measure for a range of uses.
Tempered Glass
This version is the one that is least likely to break the bank. It is made from regular glass that has been tempered via the process of strengthening through either a chemical or thermal treatment, this makes it much stronger than annealed glass and better at resisting heat. The tempering process strengthens the glass so it can withstand temperatures up to 470 degrees F. This also changes the breakage pattern, therefore reducing the chance of injury as the glass will shatter into smaller pieces rather than larger sharp pieces. As the glass cannot withstand high temperatures it is best for appliances such as splashbacks and ovens
Ceramic Glass
Ceramic Glass is a pricey version, however it also can withstand much higher temperatures of up to 1470 degrees F and will not shatter from constant heat, so it is ideal for fireplaces. We have different sizes ranging from 3mm to 5mm that are available to order now. Ceramic glass is made from a polycrystalline, which is a ceramic material – not glass which is why it can withstand the higher temperatures.
At YourGlass Fittings we have two different Ceramic Glass options:
PyroCeram: 1/8” or 3mm thick
1256 degrees F
NeoCeram: 3/16” or 5mm thick
1470 degrees F

Commercial Use
Heat-resistant glass is often also used commercially in office buildings, it can be a valuable asset to give yourself and your workforce more time to exit in the case of an emergency. The ways in which heat-resistant glass may be a worthwhile investment are:
Server Rooms: Computers and electrical equipment have a risk of overheating, which is a potential fire hazard. By installing heat-resistant glass it will slow down fire, giving more time to protect your computers and the information stored on them in the case of an emergency.
Fire-Safe Floors: Many modern commercial spaces choose to use glass floors for an added style aspect. By choosing heat-resistant glass it can limit the risk of injury to your workforce as instead of annealed glass shattering into large fragments, the heat-resistant glass will help contain the fire, giving more time for your employees to evacuate the premise.
Glass Partitions: There is an increase in demand in glass partitions in offices due to the sleek characteristics they hold, rather than using walls which can tend to look dull and unappealing. However, if your partitions are not heat-resistant they could break and shatter into large fragments injuring your workforce
